THANKS A MILLION NHS HEROES

It is something that has, at some point, touched all our lives.
From cradle to grave, the National Health Service, and the incredible professionals within it who care for us, is a part of British life.
Today, more than ever, we should cherish those who dedicate themselves to our care, heedless of own health as they work tirelessly to care for people in the face of the Coronavirus pandemic.
Nurses and others – employed by the NHS and any other part of health and care – we have never needed them more.
So let’s show them some love, and create a living map of gratitude from every corner of Britain.
By dropping a heart on the map, you’re saying you appreciate the efforts undertaken daily in the NHS.
Thanks a million, NHS workers – we  love you

Green Bin Collections postponed until at least May

Green bin collections are suspended temporarily from Monday 23 March due to the coronavirus. We hope them to continue from May but will keep you updated. The service to deliver replacement or additional green bins is also suspended.

Green bin collections across Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire will not take place between Monday 23 March and Monday 4 May. Please see our dedicated green bin collection suspension FAQs page for more information.

The green bin collections are being reintroduced from Monday 4 May. Households would usually have 2 green bin collections between 4 and 30 May but, due to the impact of national social distancing measures, only one collection will be guaranteed.

The Greater Cambridge Shared Waste Service, a partnership between Cambridge City and South Cambridgeshire District Councils, has made the decision in order to support staff and the recycling and waste service as a whole during the Coronavirus outbreak.

The suspension of green bin collections will allow crews to concentrate on emptying blue and black bins during the coming weeks. It will also assist with any future staff sickness or self-isolation issues.

As always, residents are being encouraged to waste as little food as possible, so they minimise the amount they need to throw away. For this period only, the advice to residents who do have food waste will be to put it into the black bin.

Residents who enjoy spending time in the garden and growing their own food are also being asked to consider home composting as much of their garden waste as possible.
