Comberton to go 20mph village wide in 2026 / 27 ?

11 projects planned to be delivered in 2025/26 have been approved by councillors at a Cambridgeshire County Council meeting on October 14.

The list included an application for a village wide 20mph zone for Comberton  which was rated 6th out of 95 projects!

The application for a village-wide 20mph zone in Comberton was recently approved by Cambridgeshire County Council’s Highways and Transport Committee (as of October 2025). The delivery of the approved 20mph schemes is generally expected to begin later.

A formal consultation on the Traffic Regulation Order (TRO) to implement this is necessary. It could take another two years before all projects are completed.

Since Comberton was approved for a village-wide scheme, the zone is expected to cover most, if not all, of the adopted public roads within the village boundary, with exceptions typically being major distributor roads running through the area, although these will be clear on the TRO map.

Also Comberton (CPC) was successful in a Local Highways improvement bid to provide Mobile Vehicle Activated Signs (MVAS) and four posts to be installed in the village of Comberton. The budget being £10k with £1k  provided by CPC and £9k from the County Council. Again this was rated 6th out of 24 projects.

Volunteer Drivers & Coordinators Needed Urgently

Can you spare a little time to help your neighbours in Comberton?

We’re looking for volunteer drivers and coordinators to help local residents get to medical appointments when transport is difficult.

  • Drivers use their own cars to provide friendly, reliable lifts.
  • Coordinators help arrange journeys and match drivers with those in need — this can often be done from home.

You’ll be helping people access vital care and stay independent — and you’ll meet some wonderful people along the way!

Mileage expenses are reimbursed, and full support is provided.
