Comberton is a large village with a population of about 2,400 situated approximately 5 miles west of Cambridge, with good access to the M11 and A14/A428 trunk roads. Within the village there is an excellent range of facilities and amenities including shops and schooling up to the age of 16 years.
There’s both a Primary School, a Foundation School status Village College and Sixth Form – founder member of the Cambridge Area Multi Academy Trust, with adjoining Community Leisure and CB3 Health & Fitness facility – aka Comberton Sports and Arts.
Comberton also has its own modern village hall, friendly locally owned village pub and a large recreation ground with football and cricket pitches, tennis court, skateboarding, adult fitness trail, children adventure playground and Jubillee woodland walk.
The name Comberton dates from the Anglo-Saxon period and means “Cumbra’s Farm”. The village is mentioned in the Domesday book and probably dates from well before 1086. Parts of St Mary’s Church date back 800 years, with some houses in village being built as early as the fourteenth century.
Comberton today is a mix of historical and thatched houses along with modern estates enjoying its own sense of community as well as the proximity to all the facilities of Cambridge.
